If you’re using the Tegaderm™ method for your clients, here’s a quick and easy guide to ensure everything goes smoothly:

Tegaderm™ is a sterile, breathable, waterproof, and germ-proof barrier that protects a new tattoo from contamination while also keeping clothes and sheets safe from excess ink, blood, and other healing fluids. Clients can shower normally, but they should avoid swimming or submerging their tattoo in water.

Here’s how to use it:

1. Apply the first bandage: Wrap the new tattoo with a Tegaderm™ bandage before the client leaves. Provide them with a second bandage for later use. Tell them to keep the original bandage on overnight.
2. Next morning instructions: Instruct your client to carefully remove the first bandage the next morning. They should slowly peel it off and discard it. Then, they should wash the tattoo with warm water and liquid soap, and gently pat it dry.
3. Reapply the second bandage: Have your client cover the tattoo with the second Tegaderm™ bandage. Advise them to leave this one on for 7-10 days.
4. Final cleaning and care: When the client removes the second bandage, they should clean their tattoo thoroughly again with liquid soap and warm water. They can then apply a fragrance-free lotion on their tattoo for the next few days to keep it moisturized.
